W.L. Weller Full Proof (Barrel 457) - (Master of Malt Exclusive)

Hugely exciting this. A Master of Malt (and by extension Pour & Sip - although you're getting this barrel a month earlier than anyone else!) exclusive ‘Sazerac Barrel Select’ bottling of W.L. Weller Full Proof wheated bourbon! In other words, this is an extra special single cask edition of what was already one of the hard-to-find absolute highlights of the Buffalo Trace Distillery oeuvre.

Wheated bourbons such as this swap some or usually all of the rye out in favour of wheat. Other famous examples include Maker’s Mark and Pappy Van Winkle. This leads to a generally smoother style of bourbon that many favour, although there’s still plenty of power to be found here. W.L. Weller in fact uses the exact same mashbill as the legendary (also Buffalo Trace Distillery) Pappy Van Winkle, and it should also be noted that unlike almost all the distillery’s releases (outside of their rare and highly sought-after Antique Collection), this is also non-chill filtered.
