Product details
Torabhaig was the first whisky distillery built on Skye in 190 years, with production starting in Jan 2017. Their Legacy Series is like a smoky breadcrumb trail leading the way to their first 10 year old, a running commentary on the evolution and development and their house style that’s won many admirers. We enjoyed the second release ‘Allt Gleann’ back in our Sep 2023 box. Sound of Sleat is the fourth. Given that the third played with sherry, Sound of Sleat is really the direct follow up to Allt Gleann – back in American oak only, which is their focus going forward.
Torabhaig’s island style revolves around their “well-tempered” peat. 78 PPM is high (higher than most heavily peated Islay whiskies), but the peat used and crucially the tight cut points during distillation (only selecting the aromatics they desire) makes Torabhaig an entirely different experience.
