Product details
"For relaxing times, make it Suntory time." So says Bill Murray in Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation. But you already knew that. Technically they were talking about Suntory’s Hibiki blends, but Toki is literally Japanese for ‘time’! First launched in 2016 (or a couple of years later in the UK), the original brought together malts from Suntory’s Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries alongside grain whisky from their Chita distillery.
Toki was built around fresh and fruity (unpeated) Hakushu aged in American oak, but Hakushu also produces peated whisky... You see where this is going. Toki Black, launched Sep 2025, offers a refined smoky twist on an adaptable staple. It’s slightly richer, with both peated Hakushu, and rare Hakushu grain whisky now in the mix. Suntory is Japan’s oldest whisky producer, dating back to 1923 when Shinjiro Torii established Yamazaki not far from Kyoto.
