Bardstown Bourbon Co. Wheated Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon

This Kentucky straight bourbon is part of Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Origin Series, which means it all comes from their own distillery. Its ‘bottled-in-bond’ designation also tells you that it not only came from a single distillery, but also all from a single season, and that it’s been aged for at least four years. This particular bourbon has actually been aged for a healthy six years.

It’s made with Kentucky corn and and wheat, with a mashbill of 67% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. Wheated bourbons such as this swap some or all of the rye out in favour of wheat. Famous examples include Maker’s Mark and Pappy Van Winkle. This leads to a more approachable, milder, smoother style of bourbon that many favour.

Bardstown Bourbon Company was founded in 2016 and works with over forty different mashbills(!) as well as providing what they describe as ‘the first Napa Valley style experience on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail’ at their impressive distillery.
