Product details

Founded in 1879, Aberlour means ‘mouth of the chattering burn’ in Gaelic, and as well as the distillery, the town is famous for being the home of Walker’s shortbread! The original building was partly destroyed by fire in 1898 and rebuilt by top distillery architect Charles Doig of Elgin, and capacity was then doubled in the 1970s – however the distillery is currently in the process of expansion with another four stills and 16 washbacks(!) in the pipeline.

Aberlour’s spirit is medium weight, but becomes so much richer with time and has the depth to stand up to sherry maturation, as seen right here. Matured for 14 years, first in bourbon and then oloroso sherry casks, you can see where this Aberlour gets its name. It’s a big, luxurious dram on the sweeter side.
