Product details
Glendronach, founded in 1826, has become synonymous with rich, sherried goodness. Like Benriach last month, its modern reputation was built under the custodianship of previous master distiller Billy Walker, and has continued following Brown Forman’s purchase of the distillery in 2016 under the expert eye (and nose) of master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie.
She tells us that “Ode to the Dark enrobes velvet chocolate over dark plum and black cherry, caramelised dates and coffee, to bask the Glendronach in rich splendour.” Here, unlike the other two releases in the distillery’s Master's Anthology, maturation takes place solely in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Big, bold, and intense. One for the sherry bomb fans. (We featured Ode to the Valley last year, which utilises both Oloroso and PX sherry alongside Ruby Port casks, and there’s also a peated Ode to the Embers to hunt out.)
