Pour & Sip September 2023 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

September marks Pour & Sip's third birthday, and we're back bringing you even more fabulous whiskies to mark the occasion! We're popping to Scotland, Canada, Italy, and then back to Scotland with our five drams this month.

Torabhaig Allt Gleann - The Legacy Series: The second ever release from the distillery, using barley peated to at least 75 PPM, and matured in both first-fill bourbon casks and refill casks.
Benromach 15 Year Old: Combining the dreamy duo of bourbon and sherry casks, Benromach is keeping the Speyside tradition of topping up fires with peat when coal ran low alive, malting their Scottish barley with a little peat smoke. Expect bold baking spices, juicy red fruit and citrus, and woody smoke.
Arran The Bothy Quarter Cask: Initially matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, this is then moved for a secondary maturation into smaller American oak quarter casks, accelerating the effects of maturation. Big flavours of vanilla sweetness and peppery spice are proudly displayed at cask strength.
PUNI 4 Year Old 2012 (Master of Malt): This particular Italian whisky was independently-bottled by Master of Malt (the brains behind Pour & Sip!), and is a blended whisky produced from a trio of grains: malted barley, malted rye, and malted wheat. Before bottling the whisky was finished in a pinot noir barrique, imparting rich red fruit and subtly drying spice notes.
Signal Hill: A brilliant blended Canadian whisky, Signal Hill brings together Canadian corn and barley. The former is double-distilled through a two-column still for a lighter, gently sweet spirit, while the latter is pot-distilled, bringing a bready, nuttier depth to the whisky.

Pour & Sip May 2023 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

In honour of the Islay Festival which falls in May each year, three of our whiskies this month are produced on the famed island, with a Dutch single malt and brand new blended Scotch to boot.

Scarabus: A mysterious Islay single malt from Hunter Laing, Scarabus was released to put emphasis back onto the flavour Islay whisky instead of the distillery, while keeping everything else a little secret.
Bruichladdich 10 Year Old 2012 Bere Barley: This unpeated single malt was produced from the 2011 harvest of heritage bere barley, distilled in 2012. The whisky itself spent ten years in first-fill bourbon casks, with the barley bringing light, zesty fruit notes and lots of barley sugar.
Lagavulin 8 Year Old: The well-loved Lagavulin 8 Year Old was being produced as far back as the 1880s, but the smoky, coastal expression was then relaunched as a limited edition to celebrate Lagavluin’s 200th anniversary in 2016 and proved so popular that it was then added as a core bottling.
Millstone 4 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company): While this Dutch single malt was heavily peated to 50 PPM, the long fermentation time and narrow cut mean that the smoke is a little subdued. Matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads, expect a decadent balance of rich, fruity sweetness from the sherry, a good helping of baking spices, and hints of earthy smoke.
Turntable Track 3: Purple Haze: New on the Scotch whisky scene is Turntable Spirits, founded by two brothers with over 20 years of experience between them. This blended Scotch is made up of 44% Balmenach drawn from a Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon, 42% Craigellachie from an oloroso sherry butt, and 14% Invergordon grain from a sherry barrel.

Pour & Sip April 2023 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

Time to dive into April's Pour & Sip selection, with some well-aged whiskies in here and a mouthwateringly diverse range of flavours from across Scotland, Wales, and even South Africa!

Old Pulteney Pineau des Charentes - Coastal Series (The Maritime Malt): This edition began its life in bourbon casks before being transferred to French oak barrels from the oceanic Charente region just north of Bordeaux which previously held Pineau des Charentes, a rare French aperitif. The result is a light and fruity single malt with a savoury, maritime backbone reminding us of its coastal home.
Three Ships 12 Year Old: A slightly smoky South African single malt from the James Sedgwick Distillery, released as part of the Three Ships range. The barley used is peated to around 30 PPM, and once distilled is filled into a high proportion of small refill American oak casks.
Penderyn Rich Oak: Initially a limited edition, Rich Oak is now a permanent fixture in the range, matured in both bourbon and shaved, toasted, and re-charred (STR) wine casks. STR was pioneered by the late Dr. Jim Swan, who was one of the founders of Penderyn and served as master blender, and in the process the casks are rejuvenated, allowing the wood to impart more flavour to the whisky.
anCnoc 18 Year Old: From Knockdhu distillery comes this well-aged 18-year-old single malt, with the spirit's fruity, citrusy, honeyed flavour bolstered by a combination of Spanish oak sherry casks and American oak bourbon barrels, bringing a wealth of spicy, chocolatey notes and tropical, sweeter flavours respectively.
Wormtub 10 Year Old – Batch 2: This 10-year-old single malt was produced at a mystery Speyside distillery that uses old-school wormtub condensers, and was reracked into first-fill sherry casks before being bottled at cask strength without any colour added whatsoever, packed full of meatiness, tangy sherried fruit, and a hefty helping of spices.

March 2023 Pour & Sip Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

With St. Patrick's Day on the horizon, it was only right that we included a few Irish whiskeys in this month's set, with a couple of superb Scotches thrown in for good measure.

Teeling Pineapple Rum Cask: Teeling took its Small Batch blended Irish whiskey, which is initially matured in both bourbon and Central American rum casks, and then finished it for a further 12 months in casks which previously contained Plantation Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy rum, imparting a whole load of tropical tang to the creamy whiskey.

Redbreast Lustau Edition: This Lustau Edition pays tribute to the use of sherry casks throughout Redbreast’s history, with the single pot still Irish whiskey finished in first-fill oloroso sherry butts for a year from Bodegas Lustau in Jerez.

Powers John's Lane Release 12 Year Old Single Pot Still: This 12-year-old single pot still whiskey named John’s Lane after the distillery where Powers was first made. Matured in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, there are notes of citrus and red florals alongside that classic oily pot still character.

Glengoyne The Legacy Series Chapter Three: This is the third (and final) instalment in the distillery’s Legacy Series, and this particular release celebrates the distillery's original excise manager, Sir Arthur John Tedder. Matured in a selection of sherry casks, fruity new make is bolstered by sweet and spicy notes.

Singleton of Dufftown 18 Year Old: Known for its sweet, grassy new make spirit, the well-aged offering from the Dufftown distillery was bottled as part of The Singleton range, full of chocolate, honey, and stone fruit.

Pour & Sip January 2023 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

This month we're kicking off the year with three Scotch whiskies, and two single malts from England and Sweden! Expected peaty delights, fruity cask finishes, and even an exclusive whisky.

Highland Park 15 Year Old Viking Heart: Taking great inspiration from its Viking heritage, Highland Park Viking Heart is a 15-year-old single malt, matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, packing in fruity, spicy notes, as well as sherry-seasoned American oak casks, adding a dose of vanilla.

Benrinnes 15 Year Old 2006 - Old Particular Fanatical About Flavour (Douglas Laing) (MoM Exclusive):  This Benrinnes was bottled just for Master of Malt, that friendly bunch behind Pour & Sip. Distilled in November 2006, it spent the next 15 years in a single cask before the team at independent bottler Douglas Laing chose to bottle it up in January 2022 for the Old Particular Fanatical About Flavour series, with just 294 bottles released at a generous 51.5% ABV.

The One Colheita Cask Finished: The One range is a blend of grain and malt Scotch whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside, and Islay, though at its heart is The Lakes’ very own single malt. This particular release was finished in colheita Port casks, adding an extra layer of fruitiness to the blended whisky.

High Coast Timmer - Peat Smoke: A smoky Swedish whisky, distilled from Belgian barley peated to around 46 PPM and matured in first-fill bourbon barrels for around six years. As such, there’s lots of creamy vanilla and tropical fruit to be found alongside waves of warming smoke and spice.

Berry Bros. & Rudd Blended Malt - Speyside Reserve: Released as part of the Berry Bros. Classic Range, the aim of this whisky was to capture all of those light, fruity, and creamy characters associated with Scotland's Speyside region by masterfully bringing together a range of single malts from various distilleries.

Pour & Sip November 2022 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

November's whiskies bring us a fruity, smoky, and all-round delicious selection from Scotland, Ireland, and France! With a generous helping of wine casks among the range, as well as a few sherried offerings, this box is packing some flavour.

Teaninich 11 Year Old 2010 (cask 356846) - James Eadie (Master of Malt Exclusive): Distilled in 2010, this single cask Teaninich was bottled at cask strength by independent bottler James Eadie exclusively for Master of Malt, after it spent its final 16 months in a first-fill ex-Amontillado sherry cask.

Kingsbarns Dream to Dram: The flagship single malt from a relatively new Lowland Scotch distillery, Kingsbarns! First released in 2015, it's matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks as well as first-fill STR ex-wine barriques.

Green Spot Château Montelena: The single pot still whiskey has been finished for 12 months in casks which previously held Zinfandel wine from Château Montelena in Napa Valley, which is run by an Irish family originally from Waterford in southeast Ireland.

Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013: While Bruichladdich is known as one of Islay’s rare unpeated whiskies, its Port Charlotte range shows the distillery's smokier side. This release celebrates local Islay barley peated to 40PPM, and was aged in ex-American whiskey casks, before 25% of the whisky was finished in Pessac-Léognan wine casks from Bordeaux.

Armorik Sherry Cask: Produced at the oldest distillery in France, Armorki helped create the Breton Whisky geographical indication, meaning that all Breton whisky must be produced from water sourced from Breton soil, as well as being fermented, distilled, and aged in Brittany. This release meets all those specifications, and is aged in old ex-oloroso sherry casks.

Pour & Sip June 2022 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95

We're travelling to Tennessee, Scotland, and Sweden through the power of whisky with this month's drams, with Swedish cloudberry wine casks, some well-aged Lowland single malt, and even a celebrity bourbon among the tasty offerings.

Heaven's Door Tennessee Bourbon: Heaven’s Door is a Tennessee bourbon co-created by Bob Dylan, with the help of master blender Ryan Perry. The straight bourbon is distilled, aged, and bottled in Tennessee, produced from a sour mash made up of 70% corn and 30% ‘small grains’ (such as rye or wheat). Matured for at least six years in American oak barrels, it's full of buttery sweetness, with jammy fruits, oaky tannins, and nuttiness.

Mackmyra Stjärnrök: A subtly smoky Swedish single malt from the wonderful Mackmyra, Stjärnrök translates as ‘Star Smoke’. It’s made up of Oloroso sherry-matured peated malt, and bourbon-matured unpeated malt. There’s virgin American oak in the mix too, though the most unusual addition is Swedish oak ex-cloudberry wine casks, in which a proportion of the whisky was finished.

Arran 10 Year Old: Officially launched in 2006, this 10 Year Old has scooped up numerous awards throughout the years, likely because it exudes all the honeyed richness we know and love from Arran. Yes, this is an island whisky, but it’s full of sweeter, malty, citrus notes, rather than the smokier flavours many associate with whiskies from the region.

Auchentoshan 18 Year Old: This well-aged Lowland single malt is matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks, so it’s rather grain-forward, with subtle woodiness, vanilla creaminess, and distinctive citrus notes in support. A short fermentation gives Auchentoshan a distinctive cereal note as well as a generous dose of zesty citrus, while the triple distillation results in a lighter and sweeter flavour profile.

Fable Blended Malt Batch One: Fable is about gothic illustrations, and in its previous releases Blair Athol was represented by a crow, Mannochmore by a hound, and Dailuaine the moon – all of which, if you could see the full bottle, you’d notice appear on the graphic label of this blended malt! It spent seven years in ex-bourbon barrels and hogshead casks, with just 3,000 limited bottles released.

Pour & Sip February 2022 Box

Pour & Sip

£29.95Regular price

Though February may be a shorter month, we've still got five incredible whiskies lined up to enjoy throughout its 28 days. This time, we're taking your taste buds from the Scottish Highlands and island of Islay, to England, Japan, and Kentucky. It's quite the flavour journey...

Four Roses Single Barrel 100 Proof: Four Roses boasts five yeast strains and two separate mash bills (named ‘B’ and ‘E’), giving it 10 different bourbon recipes to experiment with. However, its Single Barrel releases always use the same recipe using mash bill ‘B’, with 60% corn, 35% rye, and 5% malted barley.

Hibiki Japanese Harmony: Harmony is a well-balanced blended whisky from the Hibiki range of Japanese whisky, featuring malt whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, as well as grain whisky from the Chita distillery. The whiskies are drawn from five different cask types, including American white oak, native Japanese Mizunara oak, and ex-sherry casks, full of honeyed fruits, florals, and fragrant wood.

The One Moscatel Cask Finished: A fruity, honeyed delight from The Lakes Distillery, The One is a blend of grain and malt Scotch whiskies from Speyside and Islay, though at its heart is The Lakes’ own single malt. Finished in ex-Moscatel casks, this whisky has taken on an abundance of chocolate and stone fruit flavours.

The Glenturret 10 Year Old Peat Smoked (2021 Release): The Glenturret’s annual 10 Year Old Peat Smoke release is a delicious nod to the distillery’s peaty history. While today most of its production is unpeated, this limited release features a splash of peated spirit too, matured in both first-fill and second-fill European and American oak casks – expect rich smoke alongside soft fruits and florals.

Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength - 2021 Edition: The 2021 edition of Bunnahabhain's annual, well-sherried 12 Year Old Cask Strength release. The Islay distillery wanted to recreate visitor cask strength tastings of its beloved core 12 Year Old whisky in the distillery’s iconic Warehouse 9, so now you don’t need to make the pilgrimage to the Scottish Islands to do so!
