Product details
Back in 1999, Mackmyra was founded as the first and only whisky distillery in Sweden, the idea born between eight friends on a ski trip. Both Swedish barley and Swedish oak play a big part in Mackmyra’s character, but this particular release was inspired by golden hour over the French countryside.
The distillery partnered with Maison Ferrand, sourcing French Limousin oak Cognac casks to mature the whisky in – but that’s not all. The team also used oloroso sherry casks, Swedish oak casks, and casks saturated with berry wine (cherry and forest raspberry wine) to add extra complexity and freshness. This was the last of Mackmyra’s seasonal releases, and it’s gone out with a bang – the final result is a Swedish single malt that’s bursting with orchard freshness, bright citrus, and buttery notes.
