Product details
Wormtub condensers are a classic piece of old-school distilling equipment, and this whisky is named after them! Made up of a long coiled copper tube (which is where they get their name from) housed in a large vat of cold water, the quicker condensation time means less copper contact with the spirit, bringing out more robust, heavy flavours in the whisky.
Not many distilleries still use wormtubs these days, favouring more efficient condensers, though a few have kept them. This 10-year-old single malt was produced at one such distillery, though we can’t tell you which one. What we can tell you is that it comes from Speyside, and was reracked into first-fill sherry casks before being bottled at cask strength, without any colour added whatsoever, and is packed full of meatiness, tangy sherried fruit, and a hefty helping of spices.
