Product details
Torabhaig is the first whisky distillery to be built on Skye in 190 years, and only the second legal site to operate on the island. Production began in January 2017, and this is the second ever release from the distillery as part of its Legacy Series. Allt Gleann takes its name from one of Torabhaig’s water sources, the Allt Gleann burn. Both concerto and laureate barley varieties were used, peated to at least 75 PPM.
Subtle fruit and smoky phenols are allowed to shine thanks to a long fermentation (between 70-100 hours) and a touch of reflux during distillation. Allt Gleann was distilled in 2017 and 2018, and was then matured in both first-fill bourbon casks and refill casks. This is an exciting step in the development of Torabhaig’s signature style, which is aiming for an island-style malt whisky with a ‘well-tempered’ peat profile and a fruit-forward character.

Earthy peat smoke backs up zesty lemon, fresh tobacco, and buttery vanilla biscuits, with savoury maritime notes underneath.

Finish
A sweet finish of orchard fruit and kiwi, oaky vanilla, and the return of peat smoke and maritime brine.
