Product details
While Tamnavulin is often known for its sherried whiskies, this is the Red Wine Cask Edition from the Speyside distillery! The name Tamnavulin is the Gaelic translation of ‘mill on the hill’, named after the former carding mill (where wool is prepared for spinning) that’s found on the distillery site.
Founded in 1966 during the Scotch whisky boom, it’s been mothballed twice throughout its history – in 1995 and 2000 – but the distillery was reopened in 2007, and the brand was relaunched in 2016 to mark its 50th birthday. This edition is initially aged in American oak barrels before being moved to casks which previously held French Cabernet Sauvignon wine, bringing layers of jammy dark fruit and gentle spices.
