It's all about Scotch in this month's set, with some old timers and newer names sitting alongside each other – and even a celebrity whisky! Let's discover June's set.
The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask: Part of the Double Cask range, this 12 Year Old is matured in a blend of oloroso sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. A dreamy well-known marriage, the buttery American oak and the spicier European oak work beautifully with the fruitiness of the sherry and the distillery’s oily, heavy new make style.
Filey Bay Flagship: This is the core ongoing release of the distillery's flagship whisky. It’s matured in bourbon casks which complement the distillery character of both orchard and stone fruits and baked goods beautifully for a light, creamy, and fresh single malt.
Craigellachie 13 Year Old Bas-Armagnac Cask Finish: Craigellachie finished its single malt in Bas-Armagnac casks! First matured in bourbon and sherry casks, it was then rested in these Bas-Armagnac casks for just over a year, bolstering the bold, spicier nuances already found in Craigellachie whiskies.
Wolfburn 10 Year Old: Wolfburn's first permanent age statement whisky, an unpeated single malt matured entirely in second-fill oloroso sherry-seasoned Spanish oak hogsheads. The sweetness from the sherry bolsters the malt-forward, floral, and fruity new make wonderfully.
The Storyman Blended Scotch Whisky: Storyman is a collaboration between Annandale Distillery and legendary Scottish actor James Cosmo (of Game of Thrones fame). Various vintages and spirit types from Annandale were aged in a mixture of fresh and refill bourbon casks, and Burgundy STR wine casks. The fruity Lowland character shines through, with gentle peat smoke and a rich, fruity body from the wine casks.
