June’s Pour & Sip box showcases the delights of Scotch (hailing from the Highlands, Lowlands, and Islay), alongside two really quite different rye expressions from Denmark and Maryland – a truly globetrotting selection bursting with flavour!
Bladnoch Vinaya: A new release from the Lowland Bladnoch Distillery, Vinaya is matured in a duo of first-fill ex-bourbon and first-fill ex-sherry casks – the former highlights those classic Lowland florals and adds bright citrus fruit, while the latter brings richer, chocolatey notes.
Balblair 15 Year Old: The Highland Balblair Distillery initially matured this 15 Year Old in vanilla-forward, tropical American oak ex-bourbon casks, before it was moved to first-fill Spanish oak butts, imparting spicier, warmer nuances.
Glenfarclas 15 Year Old: A classic sherry-matured Glenfarclas, with the Speyside whisky boasting all those hallmark juicy, festive flavours – it’s bottled at 46% ABV, for the simple reason that it’s the strength that George Grant’s grandfather preferred it at.
Sagamore Spirit Signature Rye: Sagamore Spirit is bringing the traditional sweeter style of Maryland rye whiskey back, made by blending two batches of whiskey – one made with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the other with just 52% rye and the rest mostly corn, which is sweeter – together.
Stauning El Clásico: Inspired by the Manhattan cocktail, El Clásico is said to be the world's first rye whisky matured in ex-vermouth casks from Denmark’s Stauning Distillery. Made with 51% malted rye and 49% malted barley, it’s initially aged in virgin American oak, and then finished in ex-Spanish vermouth casks.
