Product details
One of Scotland’s most northerly mainland distilleries, you’ll find Pulteney in the historic Caithness fishing port where it was built in 1826. The Coastal Series in the Old Pulteney range was created to celebrate coasts around the world, and particularly the impact the North Sea air has on the distillery’s own maturation.
This edition began its life in bourbon casks before being transferred to French oak barrels from the oceanic Charente region just north of Bordeaux. These barrels had previously held Pineau des Charentes, a rare French aperitif made from fresh or unfermented grape juice that has been fortified with Cognac eau-de-vie, and then matured in barrels. The result is a light and fruity single malt with a savoury, maritime backbone reminding us of its coastal home.
