Meikle Tòir The Chinquapin One
You Save: £5.00
Meikle Tòir (pronounced “mee-kuhl tor”, meaning ‘big pursuit’) is a project from the GlenAllachie distillery and its master distiller Billy Walker, who has had a 50-year-long career in the industry. Meikle Tòir is a lesser-spotted peated Speyside whisky, produced with mainland peat from St. Fergus, while a lengthy 160-hour fermentation ensures the sweeter side of the spirit isn’t lost.
This particular edition was initially matured in American oak bourbon barrels, before being moved to chinquapin virgin oak barrels sourced from the Northern Ozark region of Missouri, USA. This unusual finishing period imparts a wealth of spicier notes to the whisky, joining with the peat smoke and sweet fruit flavours.
Smouldering wood smoke, with charred honeycomb, cigar box, flamed citrus peel, and a touch of heather.
Butterscotch and liquorice, with bonfire smoke, spiced dark chocolate, and burnt croissant.
Singed heather and sweet spices on a smoky finish.
