This is the flagship single malt from a relatively new distillery on the Scotch whisky scene, Kingsbarns! Based in the Lowlands, Dream to Dram was first released in 2015, and is matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks from the famed Heaven Hill Kentucky distillery, as well as first-fill STR ex-wine barriques (STR means shaved, toasted and re-charred).
The idea for Kingsbarns was first conceived by Douglas Clement in 2009, and it took five years, 32 investors, a Scottish government grant, and the help of the Wemyss family to become a fully functioning distillery. Clement sold the distillery to the family in 2013 and within 18 months it was up and running, with its first opening to the public in December 2014. Its first release is a fruity, floral expression, and an excellent introduction to Kingsbarns!
